If you are upgrading OIBlogs from version 1.0.0, it is advised that you update all the files released in the new version. Once you have uploaded all the new files download the 1.0.0 Updater and upload the update100.php file and point your web browser to that file. You are now up-to-date!

]]> <![CDATA[AdminCP Redesign]]> http://blog.openinferno.com/AdminCP-Redesign-p9.html http://blog.openinferno.com/AdminCP-Redesign-p9.html Well, I must admit, once I have a design, I'm never quite happy with it and they usually end up being relayered and completely redesigned a lot! That was when it hit me, almost two weeks ago (along with the fact my parents were throwing ideas at me of how to make it "easier" to navigate through, even though I originally thought it was easy); but I guess, I was wrong!

 

I went away thinking of how to make it so much easier to control, and it shows that the simplest methods, in some cases are the most effective. So I have put together a new design, and it shall be released with version 1.0.1 once development of the version has been completed a couple of weeks. Scary to think that so quickly, more designs and ideas are flying to me, ways that I can make everything so much simple, but that is what it is all about, simplifying every process you are required to do to get the most out of your blog.

 

So let me start with an image of the work, with more to follow!

OI.Blogs is an easy-to-use and free blog software. It includes all normal features of a blog and extends beyond them with a social-networking based style, giving your blog users immediate access to Twitter, so you can update your Twitter whilst blogging, it also uses a dynamic plugin, skin & language system meaning that your blog can be modified to exactly how you want it.

In development of OIBlogs, we tried to focus on user interactions, designing a streamed-feed portal page which shows a running overview of all recent activity across your entire blog whilst allowing an account to authenticate to Twitter and post tweets straight from your blog. Whilst concentrating on the social networking aspects that a blog may need we also added areas that allow a developer to easily expand .. there really aren't many limitations!

Themes can be easily created and a new design is easy to come up with, there are just some key CSS selectors that need changing to tweak it (generally most selectors on a theme are the same - so it cut backs the amount of things you need to edit in a stylesheet!)

So as of Friday 19th February, OIBlogs goes into testing state, with a release nearing in the future. Updates to follow!!

Over the next week the core modules will all be vigorously tested with all sorts of test data and an initial release shall be ready very soon!

The AdminCP has been developed to make any task you want to do on your blog that whole bit easier, with AJAX controllers applying immediate updates to your website. You have access to every area of your blog, controlling the exact display of your blog, with the addition of the OI.Blogs plugin framework, so you can tweak your blog with custom plugins that only require some PHP knowledge and the framework does the rest!

A crucial part of a blog is having access to instant statistics, from the AdminCP you can see exactly what is going on and any trends appearing, whilst generating correlations between user feeds, checking on user statuses, twitter activity, feed trackbacks and much more!
